  • THE CRITICS ARE ABSOLUTELY WRONG ON THIS ONE. THIS IS A GOOD FILM. A POWERFUL DRAMA FULL OF EMOTIONS WE CAN ALL IDENTIFY WITH (EXCEPT FOR CRITICS). THE STORY FLOWS LIKE A GOOD BOOK. I COULDN'T STOP WATCHING.....WANTING TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT.

  • I watched this movie on a return flight and was blown away with it. I was excited to read critics reviews after watching and it brings me to a conclusion that critics write reviews for the sake of seeming intelligent when actually they themselves are the most inept viewers who are unable or unwilling to give a movie a real review. Now the movie! Wow...it reminds me of older films that got by on an interesting story as opposed to action, a horror gimmick or Love story. This move feels like a combination of a love story that is tragic & a thriller movie. Would highly recommend

  • This movie is as honest and original as the truth it portrays, and as the actors who portray it. The 9% from critics is criminal.

  • Reconfortante y profunda,Un film que maneja un montaje un poco enredado a primera vista, pero que luego de que logras enredarte en su narrativa te recompensa no mostrándote una historia impactante pero si reconfortante y positiva.

  • This movie deserves more score then 9% . The movie was very emotional and powerful. Movie shows the life of a man who wants to be a writer. It's not a entertaining or a popcorn-movie.

  • The Vanishing of Sidney Hall was by far my favorite movie of the year. I watched it thinking it would be a stinker because of the ugly reviews given it by Rotten Tomatoes and The Sundance Film Festival. The script was well written with perfect timing and the cinematography was haunting. I can only conclude that someone had blacklisted this movie. This film was beautiful from start to finish.

  • Skip the critics' pretentious reviews of this movies and pay attention to the audience score here. This was a very well-executed and compelling, human drama, and as long as you're not twisting yourself to write a "professional" review that has to be "interesting" and contrary, you'll enjoy this movie. This is less a story of a "tortured artist" and more a story of a tortured human being. It is well acted: Lerman, Fanning and Chandler all deliver solid and complex performances; it keeps you interested the whole time, and unfolds in a way that is both surprising and very poignant. So, unless, you're devoid of sympathy for the human condition, or, need to infuse some PC message into each of your critiques, simply because that's fashionable (and I didn't find any messages in the movie that were questionable, beyond the ones of people being complicated), this is definitely a film worth watching.

  • Movie critics don't like it because they watch with expectation and preconception about what film should be. Many of them have lost objectivity. There's a good reason for the disparity in audience and critic reviews; this movie wasn't made for critics, it was made for the viewer. F@$& critics, almost always.

  • No idea why this movie is getting such low reviews. The acting and cinematography in the film are beautiful and executed exceptionally well. The plot is very different and is overall very raw. You get a glimpse into the life of this character and you are drawn in to understand his struggle and those he imposes on others.

  • It is pretentious like the difference between a John Irving novel and a quick summer read . The later being enjoyable but forgettable and the former something that takes sometime to get through is slow burn but sticks with you. 9% is way wrong sorry professional critics. 79% seems correct. Certainly not everyone's cup of tea but it drew me in and I really liked it.

  • A refreshingly valiant and engaging break from the lethargy indie films have made us used to.

  • Compelling in its form. A plot that is deeply explored and events that portray the diminishing of a man to nothing. Cinematography the major production element which captivates the audience to the personal lives of the characters.
