After serving time for the attempted murder of a District Attorney, disgraced former cop Joe Denton returns home looking for redemption. An embarrassment to his parents and abandoned by his ex-wife, it seems as if things can't get much worse. But then Joe finds himself trapped in the mess he left behind-in the cross fire between a crooked sheriff, the vengeful DA, and a mafia kingpin who knows too much. Delightfully suspenseful and blackly comic, "Small Crimes" follows Joe's desperate and misguided attempts to extract himself from this nightmare, only to dig himself into a deeper-and bloodier-hole.

  • A relatively conventional narrative, offset with character development and quality acting that leaves a sense of real closure. And, of course humorous american style shit and ass talk.

  • Very dark, fantastic performances. No idea how his is getting such a poor score

  • American Lannister is a cheerful film with a happy ending.

  • The film was full of stock characters: the repentant mob boss, his vicious mob son; a weak bad cop with a weak father and harpy mother; the cold, hard wife; slick, amoral head cop; the goody two shoes lawyer who's not quite as good as he appears; and of course, the damaged women: an amoral hooker with a crazy boyfriend and a nurse with a weakness for weak, good looking men. For the most part the actors play their assigned roles well. The film is bleak rather than noir; with one small redeeming element: the weak father and the weak son are not quite as weak as we thought.

  • No idea why this got bad reviews, it's good in a noir way. Has good twist and to me like a Point Blank or Bring me the Head of Alfredo Garcia. Sure those are better films, but this has that raw feeling and all solid performance. I'm a film snob and I liked it.

  • Worth seeing... quite sad to see how people can struggle coming out of jail. Not the ending I expected and sad that it ended that way. Keep me interested to the end. Another good Netflix original!

  • Ok movie. Though its plot might not be the most original, nor add up to anything much in the end, there's a certain charm to the characters and with some decent fight scenes and a great performance from Coster-Waldau, this film stands in the middle ground.

  • Nikolai made this movie a must watch! For me it was a great noir movie, that just needed to be longer than that, it must had more scenes and insides. anyway decent noir film.

  • A brutal movie that doesn't seem to have any hero. The family in that are the main focus are not friendly with some good reasons, but the end is ridiculous. I am not sure I liked it, but I didn't love it.

  • Brilliant. Not my type of movie at all, but I loved it. Lots of twists and turns if you can follow what's going on, although the story starts to unravel as you get into it further.

  • I was a big fan of E. L Katz's previous film Cheap Thrills. This is decent. It does drag in places but overall it scrapes 3 stars.Waldau is superb in the lead and the supporting cast of Cole, Forster, Parker and Pat "The Balls" Healy is first class.

  • Although this movie is a bit jumbled, the main character Joe is very well acted. The ending is also wrapped together very well.
