Paul, Apostle of Christ is the story of two men. Luke, as a friend and physician, risks his life every time he ventures into the city of Rome to visit Paul, who is held captive in Nero's darkest, bleakest prison cell. Before Paul's death sentence can be enacted, Luke resolves to write another book, one that details the beginnings of "The Way" and the birth of what will come to be known as the church. But Nero is determined to rid Rome of Christians, and does not flinch from executing them in the grisliest ways possible. Bound in chains, Paul's struggle is internal. He has survived so much--floggings, shipwreck, starvation, stoning, hunger and thirst, cold and exposure--yet as he waits for his appointment with death, he is haunted by the shadows of his past misdeeds. Alone in the dark, he wonders if he has been forgotten... and if he has the strength to finish well. Two men struggle against a determined emperor and the frailties of the human spirit in order to bequeath the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world.

  • This was a fabulous movie that made the bible come to life. What was really fantastic was that at the end of the movie, not one sound was made, no one moved from their seat. It was like we were all just thinking about everything we had just seen...it was incredibly moving!!

  • Beautifully done. A little slow in parts. Caviezel 'stoick'.

  • Very good movie. It deserves more viewers but could have spent more time on actually describing Acts.

  • Excellent cinematography, story line, and acting! Although little was told of Paul's previous life, both he and other actors were presented as 3D personalities with emotions of fear, remorse and heoism. One of the best Bible based films I've seen in my life . Nero's Rome was not a friendly place for those believing anything other than in Caeser as a diety. The perserverance of the early Christians in the face of this, suggests they were aware of convincing evidence sufficient to risk their lives. Well done Mr. Hyatt, Caviezel, Faulkner, Ms. Whalley and cast!

  • Powerful movie about the life of the apostle Paul. The movie captured the transition from Saul to Paul and the struggles that Paul suffered in Rome. Well acted and inspirational movie.

  • An engaging story of Luke's visit to Paul in prison to transcribe Acts of the Apostles and the church at Rome deciding whether to flee the oppressive state.

  • I loved this movie. It delves into the problem that there are no easy answers in life, that nonbelievers have very valid reasons and customs that are difficult to overcome. It was a tear-jerker for me. I love the acting, and it brought me closer to Christ.

  • I thought the movie was well written, there were parts that "didn't " always line up with the Bible but the movie was great. Unless you don't know the story, it won't make sense and perhaps not inspire you to be Christlike and understand how and why the cruelty of the Romans towards the Christians and Jesus's disciples The movie did an excellent job portraying the persecution of the early church and inspired me to run the race to the finish because the victory is already ours. Wish I knew to bring tissues.

  • While not quite the Apostle Paul story I was hoping for, this beautifully made film still ends up being very faith affirming and emotionally moving... especially the ending.

  • The move had some very touching moments and might inspire many people. I agree mostly with the tomatometer remarks. One thing missing was the healing power of the Christ which was exercised by Paul and the early Christians. The movie made Luke, a regular physician, more of the hero than Paul who surely could have healed the Roman's daughter.

  • Absolutely amazing movie, incredible acting and ... Hollywood please take note -- it is a true and inspiring story of love! As someone who has read and reread the Bible, this is a wonderful big screen adaptation of an exciting adventure about Paul (Saul of Tarsus) and Luke (writer of a few New Testament books). For those who are more intrigued by super heroes, special effects and sequels, you may have a hard time. If there was a disappointment for me, I would have liked to see some of Paul's 4 major missionary journeys throughout the Mediterranean. For those of you who enjoy great acting, appreciate intelligent dialogue, theology or history - you'll love it!
