The Netflix trailer made this movie look bad, it wasn't too bad of a watch. Its getting terrible reviews... even though movies like this typically get more than 15% I wouldn't say it deserves that. Two things towards the end surprised me, small details but still. I won't say what cuz it would be a spoiler.

Really solid sci-fi movie by the outstanding Duncan Jones. Skarsgard and Paul Rudd are outstanding, both with well developed characters that have a ton of depth.

Gritty neon eye candy, Mute is a lopsided narrative but a good one. The story follows Leo a Quaker/ Amish man who struggles with retaining his values while he navigates a high tech version of Germany. Touchscreen refrigerators, automated libraries, and cell phones all serve as vices in for Leo as he pursues his missing girlfriend. Ultimately resulting in a story about his willingness to betray his sense of self for the ones he loves. This, while being a good story, could've been told better. The story continues on aimlessly and meanders through subplots it had no place in long after the plot should've been resolved. Characters not given attention in the first have of the movie become far to relevant later in the movie with no development due to their minimal contribution to the story in the begging. However even though the way it tells a good story is a little pitiful the visuals are incredible, not much i can say about them you just gotta see it. Also Nathan from Misfits plays the ...drag queen?

It doesn't work, but it was interesting.

While the movie had some very obvious plot missteps, the two main actors really did well with what they were given. It is worth the watch for their performance.

I really enjoyed this film. I had a great time watching it and I would recommend it very much. I know, I am not a film critic, but I do not understand the bad reviews and the low ratings. This film is unlike other films, but that is a good thing. The performances are great, I felt with the characters, the pictures and impressions were quite beautiful, it did not really have a happy end, but it ended it nicely, so not so much kitsch. I was incredibly surprised when I saw the ratings, I thought it was a great film.

I watched this film having no idea of what it had to offer. But once I pressed play I was pleasantly surprised by an over all beautiful and diffrent styled film from the usual. I have no clue why it was getting such bad ratings.

This movie was so good the actors portrayed characters you either truly and with every fiber of your being despised or just simply loved and wished the world of.

If films like this stop being funded altogether in favour of crowd-pleasers rather than crowd-challengers, we're damned. That's your most plausible dystopian future, folks.

Worth checking out once you've seen Netflix's Annihilation, but before you get into Altered Carbon.

Another inimitable chapter in an increasingly fascinating filmography.

Intoxicatingly complicated and spiked with moral ambivalence, Mute is a sci-fi noir that requires concentration.

Mute feels like Jones's most personal film to date. It's ambitious, it's flawed but it's beautiful.
