  • Great story, acting was very good-(or not a distraction if it wasn't) its great to see "main stream" actors being part of something positive Its a story of faith, forgiveness, redemption without being preachy. I was teary eyed several times- from sadness, sweetness, beautiful irony of this story. My only complaint is the zooming "american idol camera" during the finale of the song- which is a horrible distraction from allowing the words to work their magic- which I would suggest one would close their eyes and just listen...

  • Very heavy emotion in this one. So hard to keep my eyes dry. I cried in the beginning, I cried in the end, I cried throughout, and then I felt tremendous joy when Bart finally reached his success; such a roller-coaster of emotions. You really feel like you are right there, living Bart's painful, difficult life and just rooting for him, the whole time. My mom was the "monster" in my childhood home, both physical and emotional, but only to her daughters, not her son. Many scenes brought back a lot of pain and anger for me. Don't think I haven't been there - I have, and I don't foresee a reconciliation with her. But I have forgiven her, to the extent God helps me with that. I only dock this movie half a star because the kids' acting, in the beginning, was a bit wooden. It was more an issue with the little girl than the boys, as it seemed she was too afraid to play out a crush on the boy actor. While she was almost a perfect match-up to grow into Bart's teenage girlfriend, it may have been worth it to drop this kid version and find a better actress to play that role. It was difficult to follow what she was saying because her delivery lacked sincerity. Also: I thought some of the Christian musician idolization was a bit over the top. When meeting "Smitty" and Amy Grant, I probably would have had Bart just tell them that they were an inspiration to him, to the point of being life-changing. But I'd avoid having the interaction parallel the crazed teenage fan of a secular rock star, as that almost conveys a false impression that Christian singers are ego-maniacs, the way secular rock stars ares. I've been to Christian rock concerts and have always been impressed with how very down-to-Earth they are, even when they are HUGE names. They are some of the most personable, humble, and friendly people, many with considerable talent, and are usually not afraid to mix and mingle with their fans, on almost an equal level. The trip through this life journey is such an amazing one. I am a new fan of this song; so happy that Bart had a chance to find peace, with his father, before his father's passing.

  • Got this rating because of how surprised I was at the quality of the movie itself. Quality message, acting, writing. Definitely worth watching for anyone, not a niche movie at all.

  • Probably the best faith movie made to date. (Not counting The Passion of the Christ) The acting is quite good (for the most part) and the story is great! I took my two boys (a teenager and a pre-teen) and all 3 of us cried our eyes out. Will see it again!
