- This movie made me laugh and cry. It showed the love that a girl had for her father runs deep. I loved itReply

- Great film! While the setting is a particular subculture the film does an incredible job of making the characters relatable and human. This is a gripping human drama and compelling portrait of the complicated relationship between children and their parents. Elvire Emmanuel and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II each give incredible performances in this father - daughter drama. Good film making.Reply

- First Match is sooo GOOD!!! It pumped me up sooo much I went to the gym and run!!! F YEAH!!Reply
- The lead character is soooo charismatic and feisty! The actress who plays her flows effortlessly between vulnerable child and headstrong teen. Her acting is phenomenal. I was rooting for her from the first five minutes, and was on the edge of my seat as the movie twisted and turned. Beautiful, soulful, unsentimental film. Very highly recommended!Reply

- A carefully researched and authentic story whose message transcends ethnicity, place and time, exploring what family is if we are lucky enough to have one..Reply

- Ms. Emanuelle's performance as Mo is certainly spectacular, but I don't think I've seen better screen acting in 2018 than Yahya Abdul-Mateen II's work as Darrel.Reply
