A very good film. The marketing of this movie would make you automatically think....a typical B rated action movie. This film is actually very well written and very well acted. The characters are well developed characters, the story is well written and unusually developed for a B rated action flick. The action scenes are very well choreographed and performed. The sound effects are realistic and satisfying. The story is developed and believable. The film deserves extra kudos for showcasing very realistic fighting sequences. The fight scenes are very much punch for punch, gritty scenes. Often the fight scenes we are used to in movies do not have that realistic back and forth as seen here. Also this film desevres credit for tastefully handled gore. There were gorey scenes but just the right amount not too much. Where I would mark this film down is that I wanted more of it to be honest. Some action I feel was substituted so as to develop the story more and the characters. It is a victim of it's own success in this way because I wanted more.

4/5 stars. A smorgasbord of interesting ways to kill bad guys. It's like Home Alone, except for adults and the bad guys actually die. The main character is like the MacGuyver of killing bad guys. My wife complained about the swearing, but if you can get past that, be ready for a thrill ride of your life. Well, maybe not your life, but definitely like the past 3-4 weeks.

Good film, not for young kids, but one you can watch with teenagers and adults.

Well above average B-movie with a great plot (stumbles a bit at the very end) but well worth your time...as to the stumble (father subpot should have ended differently and the final two traps...don't match the rest of film)

Good action, great scenery and awesome vengeance thriller!

A pulp thriller shot in Newfoundland. Stephen Lang is looking a little older than his character in Avatar, but still delivers a forceful performance. Breathtaking scenery. Homage to a family's will to survive and protect each other.

Excellent setting, great acting, great cast, but terribly scripted and poorly executed action sequences. What could have been an amazing movie is hampered by action sequences that make no sense no matter how hard you try to wrap your brain around them. There is little respect for firearms, basic combat logistics, and the film is loaded with classic chase sequence faux pas. The action sequences feel like they were shot and directed by first year film students. To avoid spoilers I'd compare this to Star Wars The Last Jedi. In The Last Jedi we must be constantly reminded that the rebels are low on light speed gas and the ships all have the same speed limit in sub-light travel so that we can have a prolonged impending doom space scene. This film has to explain the action sequence, because they are so contrived. If you forgive the action direction the rest of this film is pretty gosh darn good!

Little bit Home Invasion, little bit Western, little bit Die Hard. Braven sees Momoa in the titular role (maybe prepping for his upcoming role as Draven?) of this throwback action thriller, which is always a good place to start any movie. While not exactly groundbreaking, Braven was more enjoyable than I had suspected it might be. The sort of thing that'd definitely be worthwhile on Netflix or matinée .

A no-frills, competent thriller. Which already makes it better than most.

GREAT MOVIE!!!! I L O V E Jason Momoa he is awesome! I think he really puts his heart and soul into all he does and that is especially true in this movie! Totally worth the rent!

Stripped down action flick with great fight scenes. Mamoa is a badass.
