4.6 A Wrinkle in Time
Drama, Kids & Family, Action & Adventure, Science Fiction & Fantasy
Meg Murry (Storm Reid) is a typical middle school student struggling with issues of self-worth who is desperate to fit in. As the daughter of two world-renowned physicists, she is intelligent and uniquely gifted, as is Meg's younger brother Charles Wallace (Deric McCabe), but she has yet to realize it for herself. Making matters even worse is the baffling disappearance of Mr. Murry (Chris Pine), which torments Meg and has left her mother (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) heartbroken. Charles Wallace introduces Meg and her fellow classmate Calvin (Levi Miller) to three celestial guides-Mrs. Which (Oprah Winfrey), Mrs. Whatsit (Reese Witherspoon) and Mrs. Who (Mindy Kaling)-who have journeyed to Earth to help search for their father, and together they set off on their formidable quest. Traveling via a wrinkling of time and space known as tessering, they are soon transported to worlds beyond their imagination where they must confront a powerful evil. To make it back home to Earth, Meg must look deep within herself and embrace her flaws to harness the strength necessary to defeat the darkness closing in on them.

  • Starts off as an interesting science fiction, but then the whole thing moves away from the physics angle and goes straight into fantasy, and becomes a pretty much completely typical family fantasy story. Some interesting ideas and visuals and whatnot, but otherwise it's just stock standard, which is the most frustrating thing of all with something like this. Pity, but oh well.

  • This was an incredible movie. There was a lot of physics and relatable principles within the movie. My friend did not understand the clips of the movie or underlying story that dealt with physics theories. I understood and appreciated it because I study the subject in college. I think it is quite "sciencey "and reminds me of the series called MC-squared. Visual/special effects... I would compare the movie to a child's version of avatar. I enjoyed the imagery and special effects. It wasn't anywhere close to the perfection of Avatar but the closest thing to compare.

  • It was a cute movie that got to a certain point and took the length of time it needed to get there, then seemed to end abruptly. It needed to spend the same amount of time with the endingg as it did getting there.

  • A Wrinkle In Time is too fast paced for the audience to understand the true message of the story. The special effects are amazing and if you look past the bland plot then you will see the beauty of the story. The other problem is that if you haven't read the book then you probably won't understand the film, and if you have read the book then you will see how far it steers from the original story.

  • I cannot fathom the poor reviews except for the unfortunate thought this country is so very racist. I loved this movie. Both my kids loved this movie. The costumes were so creative and fresh. The kids did a wonderful job with their roles. I will happily purchase this movie to own and watch it again and again. Well done update to a quirky book. People who tried to sink this film should be ashamed.

  • It was an amazing movie, but not as good as some I've seen recently. Avengers Infinity War, Spiderman Homecoming, Guardians of the Galaxy 1 and 2, Jumanji Welcome to the Jungle, Midnight Sun, etc. So, yea. Not the best movie (compared to others), but also not the worst.

  • Pretty good I'd say. Some parts are a little slow and other parts are a bit... uh... rushed? But it was really well done overall.
