  • As we commemorate the 15th Anniversary of "9/11," this is the perfect DVD. We follow Paul McCartney, in New York City, six weeks following the attacks of 9/11. It culminates in a very emotional concert featuring Paul and his close friends, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, David Bowie, The Who, Billy Joel, Bon Jovi, James Taylor, Elton John Eric Clapton, and former President Bill Clinton. The real stars are the family's and friends of the lost first responders. This is a light, yet very effective remembrance of the day that will forever live in our history.

  • A decent doc on McCartney in NYC, where he was for Sept 11th, and his working on the Concert for NYC as well as walking around the town, interacting with other famous musicians (Eric Clapton and Elton John are about the only ones who act like Paul's just a normal buddy instead of a Beatle; and apparently Mick Jagger isn't exactly his best buddy). Shot in B&W, very good visual. Not a bad way to pass the time, probably for fans only.

  • Love Albert Maysles (got to meet him once and was almost speechless) and the very best parts of this doc are when he captures just how at ease McCartney is around other people: famous or not. I guess that's easy when you're a legend and everyone loves you but it's great to see such an icon be happy to take a walk down a New York street even though it surely means he'll be accosted the entire time. I also loved the moment when he introduced his 30-year-old daughter to James Taylor by saying "you remember my little baby...well, I guess she's my big baby now..." - my Dad has said the exact same thing. It was just one lovely moment in a film filled with lovely moments.

  • Its interesting just for all the cameos and seeing how these people interact with each other. Paul McCartney is really interesting in parts, and zany and weird in others. Sometimes its a bit too much, but overall its a pretty cool doc just for the insider look.

  • By capturing this unique moment in time, by tying Paul's own trepidation with that of the city, and by highlighting the remarkable events that led up to the show, The Love We Make proves to transcend any expectations...

  • The pleasure of The Love We Make comes from watching one of the most famous musicians in the world looking totally chill, whether he's rehearsing with his band or casually chatting with Bill Clinton.

  • Captured mostly in gorgeous black and white, "The Love We Make" is alternately trite, touching, funny and fascinating.

  • There are a few moments that point toward Albert Maysles's gifts, as they acknowledge a tougher side to Pual McCartney's life and profession.
