Following their Lovecraftian modern cult classic SPRING, acclaimed filmmakers Moorhead and Benson return with this mind-bending thriller that follows two brothers who receive a cryptic video message inspiring them to revisit the UFO death cult they escaped a decade earlier. Hoping to find the closure that they couldn't as young men, they're forced to reconsider the cult's beliefs when confronted with unexplainable phenomena surrounding the camp. As the members prepare for the coming of a mysterious event, the brothers race to unravel the seemingly impossible truth before their lives become permanently entangled with the cult.

  • WHAT'S UP?Grown but down on their mundane life brothers, decide to revisit their childhood UFO death cult for some closure. Bad idea right? Well, not if you're making a movie, then it is an absolutely kickass, brilliant idea.Indie filmsters Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, write, direct and star in this terrific slow burner, which like all conflagrations, rage out of control at a thrilling, exponential pace once all the elements come together. What appears to be a reluctant older brother keeping the Kool Aid away from his susceptibly eager sibling plot line, suddenly spirals into a mysterious vortex of wavy dimensions. Sounds blockbustery, but somehow the adept work of a small budgeted crew. Lots of twists and imaginative surprises make this a heckuva joyride. What's up? Good question. Anyone in need of an escape from the daily grind with an addictive dose of clever confusion, step right up.- hipCRANK

  • Interesting sequel/expansion of the mythology of the filmmakers' earlier film "Resolution". (It is not necessary to have seen "Resolution" - though viewers of that film are rewarded for their familiarity with it.) Well-done character-centered cosmic horror. Good stuff.

  • They have a ball with the film's screwy internal logic and effective visual design, somehow landing on a breezy tone despite a seriously heavy nucleus of unthinkable dread.

  • An intriguing sci-fi/horror offering that starts out great and finishes strong but sags somewhat in the middle. It's one thing to entice viewers with cryptic and metaphorical dialogue and actions, but it's something else to keep doing so to the point where it becomes tiresome, as happens in this release's second act. The visuals are impressive, and the script has a good deal of humor carefully mixed in. If you can make it through the picture's midsection, you'll be rewarded, but don't be surprised if your patience gets tried a bit along the way.

  • I saw this movie when I acted in it, and take it from me, it's horrifying.

  • A very interesting, clever, and at times, intense film with a great cast. Not only that, but it also fixed some of the problems from another film by this director, ?Resolution?. A few problems here and there and characters make dumb decisions near the end, but overall, a very interesting and cool film.

  • Even had this stuck to what was expected from the initial premise, it still would have been a riveting genre piece, but the filmmakers subvert expectations and deliver a funny, unique and infinitely memorable experience

  • Thoroughly entertaining all the way through with its eerie tone and compelling mystery. I started off on edge, then felt pleasantly intrigued, never bored, and surprised by the bits of humor.

  • They say 'fear of the unknown, is the greatest fear there is'. Well, The Endless is that type of film that uses the unknown to their benefit to increase the fear and underlining mystery of the film. Centered on two brother trying to reconnect with their cultist upbringing with a very H.P. Lovecraft inspired context. It's an excellent film that uses it's thought provoking plotting to it's surreal nature of the story and the philosophical nature of the cult members to provide a great sense of drama, conflict and mystery. More of less they say 'minimalism is more' and here it's just about right, filled with terrific writing, acting directing and cinematography, 'The Endless' is a film that should be seen by a large number of audiences to appreciate as one of this year's best. Luckily enough I was able to see it at the Melbourne International Film Festival when I did.

  • Even lovers of the opaque might desire a little more to grasp onto. But the mystery is a pungent one, and the images and ideas stay with you after the lights go up.

  • It's an exercise in intimate unease that presents a potentially fantastical storyline but grounds it in reality and offers characters we actually like, no matter how flawed and frustrating they might be.

  • It's unheralded, but this film is a quiet, understated, gem.
