The Dark Knight (voice of Jason O'Mara) discovers that he has a son with Talia al Ghul (voice of Morena Baccarin), and that the young boy is driven by the same fiery vengeance as his crime-fighting father in this adaptation of the 2006 comic book arc by Grant Morrison. Trained as a young boy by the League of Assassins, Batman and Talia's son Damian (voice of Stuart Allan) grows convinced that his grandfather Ra's al Ghul was killed by the villainous Deathstroke (voice of Thomas Gibson). Donning Robin's suit, Damian sets out in search of violent retribution.

  • Fairly formulaic at times, but immersive nevertheless, Son of Batman tries hard to be a dark and brutal spectacle, only to underwhelm in the narrative department.

  • Weaving an entirely new plot around the comic's basic set-up is fair enough; nothing is going to match something written by Grant Morrison and the top of his game and that would be hard to adapt. This tries admirably with what it's got; the new story beats work, the bat-family members have the correct voice (both literally and figuratively) and the dynamics of their interaction is where the film derives most of its entertainment value. The action is enjoyable, although it's unbelievable even for its type; these are meant to be humans not super-humans after all. This is nitpicking one might think, but after a while I found the tension dissipate from the fighting (of which there is a lot) because the characters seemed so invincible. The villains don't help in the suspense department either, Deathstroke is just not menacing and Talia is castrated, forced into the role of loving mother and motivation for the male characters, she loses the ruthlessness that defines her.

  • Good for an animated film. Deathstroke was a good villain like he always is in everything. Damian, aka the kid we're supposed to like, came off as a brat. Jason O'Mara is a good Batman voice. I liked Nightwing in this. The movie didn't always maintain its entertainment value but always got it back after losing it. It's pretty rewatchable and entertaining.7.4

  • Damien Wayne finally makes his debut as a main character. The fall of his grandfather (Ras al Ghul) leads him to his dad, Bruce Wayne. The two test one another to see the limits that each possesses. The father and son tale that is told is fun and the conflict that stirs within the Son of Batman is great to watch.

  • Pretty average DC animated film but it does have a good story, That being said there was a good portion of the story that could of been left out and it still would of had the same outcome, It had some great bloody fight scenes that are really the best thing about this movie, It felt rushed at times and I didn't like the voice cast on most characters but if you're a fan of Batman then you will enjoy but soon forget about this film.

  • A great animated Batman film that earns the PG-13 rating, the only thing missing was Kevin Conroy.

  • The new robin is a brat and unlikable. The story is alright. Needs an origin story of either Nightwing or batman.

  • A decent and entertaining movie that definitly is more violent and sensual than previous DC animated movies and kicks off a new batch of Damian centric Batman films sort of base on the Grant Morrison and New 52 universe. Now, Damian is far from being my favorite character or even my favorite Robin and I would much rather having films revolve around Dick Grayson or Tim Drake, and that's the main reason I don't entirely love this new movies. But given the circumstances I have learnt to enjoy this movies. Yeah, Damian is a little shit but here is much more bearable than in the comics. I liked his relationship with Alfred and Dick and the fact that they both put him in his place. I also really liked his relationship with Bruce and how, even though they have very different views in many matters (most importantly killing the enemies), Damian ends up learning a lot form his father and respecting him. And, even though Damian is a little shit, you understand why he is like that and even feel sorry for him because he is not responsible for the education he received. I also really liked Dick's introduction and his chemistry with Damian. The representation of Batman was fine but it is definetly not its best. And, even though it has some relly great action sequences, some were way too violent to be believable. In conclusion, this was a fine and entertaining movie but it is far from being one of the best DC animated movies.

  • It has its slow moments, Damian's character arc seems obnoxious and unnaturally quick, and Deathstroke does not feel up to par which are all parts that bog the overall story down, despite its action sequences and story.
