  • anything about Pryor is going to be great, but this didn't really offer anything new and seemed to concentrate on his failures rather than his successes.

  • Richard Pryor: Omit the Logic is a documentary about the legendary stand-up comedian and actor. Documentarian Marina Zenovich produced the documentary in 2013 and it premiered on Showtime in July of that year. Using archival footage and audio, we're treated to a great number of comedians and people in the entertainment industry, as well as some of Richard Pryor's closest friends and family, to get to the truth of Pryor and his station in life. Any fan of stand-up comedy should know who Richard Pryor is by this point. He was a man who challenged racism in the entertainment community, breaking through barriers to come out on top as one of the three most admired and celebrated comedians in history alongside Lenny Bruce and George Carlin. His off-stage lifestyle became somewhat of a legend, often making its way into his stand-up routine. Most documentaries about Pryor focus mostly on his career and his comedy, and while this one certainly does that, it tends to lean more towards his personal life, which makes it a more heartfelt and interesting documentary than the others. All of the interviewees have great stories, opinions, and anecdotes to share. Omit the Logic reminds us that Pryor was a tough comedian and that his comedy continues to live on today.

  • Despite Richard Pryor is an American symbol of comedy and vindication of civil and afroamerican rights, this a documetary about human kind itself. The story of Richard Pryor is a good journey through the soul of an extraordinary talent. Maybe the work of Marina Zenovich doesn't have the soul that you can wait to see in a work of Pryor.

  • A good documentary about the influential comic's life and career. At times a very difficult and troubled life that he always used to the benefit of his stand up act. The old stand up footage is great and the exploration of his early life and family is pretty astonishing.

  • This is great. If you've ever seen a movie or standup with Richard Pryor, watch this. Unfortunately, you may need to have Showtime...

  • OMIT THE LOGIC shows Pryor at his hilarious best and his damnable worst. An influence to many, if not all, black comedians (as Damon Wayans notes, "If you didn't steal nothin' from Richard, you probably ain't that funny anyway"), the controversial firebrand Pryor started as a clean-cut establishment kid in the early '60s, trying to be Cosby. He made it to Vegas that way. And then one night, he just started swearing onstage - and got fired. From that night, he became Richard Pryor: if he couldn't do it his way, he warn't gonna do it at all. I'm not going to say anything more, watch the documentary it's really interesting. 7/10
