Wim Wenders' new documentary, "Pope Francis - A Man of His Word," is intended to be a personal journey with Pope Francis, rather than a biographical documentary about him. The pope's ideas and his message are central to this documentary, which sets out to present his work of reform and his answers to today's global questions. From his deep concern for the poor and wealth inequality, to his involvement in environmental issues and social justice, Pope Francis engages the audience face-to-face and calls for peace.

  • It doesn't matter what your religion is or even if you don't have any religion - as part of being in the human race, you need to see this movie, especially if you are an American. To see the poverty and inhumanity that pervades our planet coupled with the message of hope is worth the price of the ticket. We are all in this together, and if we seek change, peace, a better world then Pope Francis has some answers for all of us to ponder.

  • It is very good and very compelling. The Pope really advocates for social justice and doing more to help our planet and the poor. Don't go to this movie to be entertained. Go to this movie to answer the question: should I be doing more?

  • This was a human and environmental rights documentary! (Not the religious movie I expected.) It was perfectly done and delivered brilliant messages for delicate, but pertinent, topics. Perfectly inspiring.

  • A priest, a rabbi, and an imam walk into a bar. Born Jorge Mario Bergoglio, the first Pope to take the name Francis is a radical change from that which has come before him. His compassion is broad. His humility is deep. He is about proving the 3Ts (Spanish) ,... Work, Home (that means an human compatible Earth), and Family. It has been a while since I have heard such well considered and humanely presented arguments about tempering the relentless consumerism. Of course, I am fond of his suggestion that everyone should put a little beauty in the world, even if it means just a smile and a gentle sense of humor.

  • This film got me in deep personal reflection for many days. No lie! It really brought the idea of grace and simplicity and goodness and honesty home to me in a way I have not felt for...probably ever. There were such intelligent points in this movie and wow...I never thought I would say. I dig the Pope! Is it weird for the Pope to be my guru?...hmmm....

  • An in-depth look at the views of a religious leader who earnestly seems to be attempting to take his followers in some radically new directions for a perpetually staid institution that has long resisted the kinds of change it needs to remain viable in a rapidly-shifting world. While many of the questions posed to the pontiff are somewhat on the softball side, his responses are nevertheless candid, even when couched in metaphorical terms. The film offers little insight into the man behind the robe, but its clear, concise, ever-respectful presentation of his outlooks and their importance for the world are spot-on. Worthwhile viewing, regardless of whether or not you're Catholic.

  • "Pope Francis: a man of his word" is inspiring and moving. Really glad we got to see it in a theater because some of the segments benefit from the large screen, especially refugees on Lampedusa. trash in the ocean, etc. The interview with the pope is broken up with scenes of context, with segments in Philadelphia, Congress, Rio, etc. Highly recommended.
