  • I quite liked it. It had all the elements I expect from a horror / thriller. Mysterious as well. Very good acting from a bunch of youngsters. I had a few good scares too.

  • I can say after watching Sergio G. Sánchez's "The Orphanage" and "Marrowbone" that he conveys scenes of emotional family dynamics very very well - his movies ooze sentimentality, brutality, fantasy/horror and human psychology. Love both of his movies. Watch out for George MacKay, he is the new upcoming star! ;)

  • A bit scary and interesting movie that keeps in suspense, but the best thing about this film is the actors. They played very well!

  • "Down on your marrowbones and pray!"A pretty good collection of up-and-comers with a solid enough premise told relatively efficiently, featuring a mix of hardline-by-the-numbers horror and only-mostly-cliche horror, but it lacks that next step to take it over the line into being "Actually good".

  • "Marrowbone" is not a conventional horror film. The story doesn't revolve around "the unknown" or "the big bad evil" but instead chooses to focus on the main characters, the Marrowbone family. The film heavily develops these characters & centers on their interactions with each other by placing them inside theoretical boundaries where there is not much else to do. The actors work good together & their chemistry makes their family bonds believable. Heaton & MacKay, who portray the two brothers, both deliver stellar performances. MacKay shines especially near the film's ending but given the nature of the film, not much can be said about it, in fear of spoiling it.Sanchez achieves an atmospheric, fairy-tail style of approach by capturing almost the entirety of the film with mesmerizing shots & by not using the usual dark & dull tone that is so often automatically served to viewers in many horror films.(Updated from 25/02/2018)

  • The film is a drama before it's a horror, and it was a welcome break from the typical horrors we've become custom to. By only having a snippet of horror here and there it for me at least allows you to have a full flow of emotions. Horror is my favourite genre and although I wouldn't classify this as a full horror, it does however deliver a full story rather than relying on gore that you see now to fill the movie

  • Great plot twist. Now that is the kind of movie we should have more of insted of these over CG nonsense with superheroes all the time.

  • The young cast is quite impressive, and their collective cinematic horror pedigree adds to the enjoyment.

  • Its particular flavor of elaborate, genteel nightmare is unusual, but it's as effective as any jump-scare-laden, blood-spattered slasher.
