When her husband suddenly dumps her, longtime dedicated housewife Deanna (McCarthy) turns regret into re-set by going back to college...landing in the same class and school as her daughter, who's not entirely sold on the idea. Plunging headlong into the campus experience, the increasingly outspoken Deanna-now Dee Rock-embraces freedom, fun and frat boys on her own terms, finding her true self in a senior year no one ever expected.

  • This movie was really funny. It was Melissa McCarthy being a slightly subdued version of the character she normally plays and it totally worked. I found her pretty funny in the role and the movie pretty funny overall. Is it worth a visit to the movies? Maybe if you have a free ticket or MoviePass. Otherwise, you can wait for Redbox on this one. But it is definitely worth seeing.

  • Melissa went overboard a few times with the same jokes but overall her character fought adversity and the movie made several of us laugh out loud, which that's what a comedy movie should be able to do.

  • I was in fits of laughter! My advice is to ignore the below-average reviews, take this sweet film at face value and have a laugh. It'll make you feel better.

  • This movie was so funny. I laughed a lot--had me in tears at one point. Many in the audience laughed as well so I don't get the hate for this film. Most recent comedies haven't been funny but this was. Melissa was hilarious.

  • I watched this in a cinema in Montreal. I'm usually a big Melissa McCarthy fan, and this one had the usual laughs in. The story, however, was weak, with the ending slightly abrupt. I think the Director was obviously trying to 'break the norm' so instead of ending the film with a built up obvious love hook-up, the film just ended.

  • So funny! I lost track of how many times I laughed out loud watching this in the theater. And everyone else was cracking up too!I have loved Melissa McCarthy since Gilmore Girls but I was getting tired of her playing the same over the top character from Bridesmaids, The Heat, and Identity Theif, so it was refreshing to see her in this role where she is playing a sweeter character, but still brings the comedy!

  • Hilarious! Perhaps as a 46 year old mom, I am the target demographic for this movie. No, this is not a highbrow film but, if you just want something funny and entertaining, it definitely does the job. Melissa McCarthy never fails to make me laugh, and I haven't laughed so hard in quite awhile. I saw "I Feel Pretty" a couple of weeks ago, and I laughed in that movie too, but I laughed much harder in this one. I left the theater still chuckling over bits of silliness. To me, there is too much seriousness in the world right now, so it was nice to just sit and laugh for two hours.

  • Life of The Party is a very entertaining and heartwarming comedy starring Melissa McCarthy. As a major fan of her, I was extremely excited to see this film, despite the poor reviews. I did not go in with any expectations, but I found myself consistently enjoying it. There was a surprising amount of sweet moments -- I even teared up a few times. Sure, the storyline isn't perfect or unique, but it's not as predictable as I was told it was. Life of The Party is also hilarious, and I laughed out loud during many jokes; it was really fun. - 75%

  • Lots of details were looked over and many parts that should have been cut. There were a few good moments though. If you go in expecting an okay movie you will get what you want. Not great, not the worst movie ever.
