  • I found it as an excellent movie. It take the big three of the DC Universe and completely changes who they are. You don't have to know the story behind any of them because this is something new. It tells you how they got there. This is not the normal DCU; this is an Elseworlds story. (Fans of the normal DCU will have fun with the easter eggs.)

  • DC outdoes themselves again with another animated entry of the Trinityit's essentially an Elseworld story; what if things went differently than what we normally saw for these superheroes?the opening starts with General Zod wanting to excel in genetics superiority to save Krypton then we cut to Earth where Superman lands but instead is raised by a migrant couple, Batman uses more violent tactics to subdue his enemies and he has a thirst for blood, lastly, Wonder Woman is Becca instead of Diana that uses a motherboard sword the other characters we know and love lead very different lives and a majority of them are being slain by an unknown group of assailants implicating the Trinity in the processthere are gods in this film as well as monsters that exist in one form or another would it be better for mankind to act as a single unit without hate or corruption?the voice acting is always superb, this is some of the best animation I've seen for a straight-to-video release, and saving the world in an alternate reality can still be possibleit's also the most adult story told so far which should please a majority of young viewers and older ones

  • Yet again DC strickes with a dark thrilling animated tale that offers a new perspective to justice legue showing torment between the themes of justice and evil. It is a well directed clear cut feature that entertains well and breaks the boundaries of animation with graphic fights it is most definitely the darkest film yet. It is also benefited by a great voice cast including Michael C Hall who I was surprised to hear in this but defiantly suits the role. I would most certainly give it 10/10.

  • Definitely different way of seeing Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. I was surprised that Lex Luthor helped them.

  • One of the greatest DC animated films to date. The elseworld story brings to life the "what if" scenario to the fans. Seeing a Superman that has the DNA of General Zod is an interesting look. A man that truly thinks he is doing the right thing by keeping the world under his watchful eye is very intriguing. Vampire Batman brings a new meaning to the Dark Knight. The fear that Batman's normal villains feel is now felt by the rest of the world. This man is a creature that myths have talked about for generations. The voice actors are all very fitting to their characters. All in all a very good outing for WB/DC animation.

  • Though a very different Big Three, it's kinda cool how things came full circle in this alternate universe. Pretty dark and not for kids.

  • I did not expect to enjoy this film, since DC been making some mediocre films. A tale of the hero's we know and love in an alternate world where they choose darker decisions to save the world. It's great, a film that will entertain both the regular movie watcher and the hard core fan. I hope to see more films like Gods and Monsters in the future.

  • When the short clips started to be released from the upcoming Justice League: Gods and Monsters characters, I was intrigued. I loved seeing the return of Bruce Timm's animation, but I have never been a big fan of alternative universe stories, even when it includes beloved characters. I began watching the full-length film with moderate expectations that were quickly exceeded. Bruce's animation is simply stunning. If I were DC/WB, I'd never use anyone else unless I absolutely had to. Ever since Batman: The Animated Series, no one has portrayed DC characters better. Visually, it's obvious, but the teams he puts together to tell these film-quality stories never ceases to impress. Benjamin Bratt as this world's Superman is exquisite. As the son of Zod, not Jor-El, he has a darkness to him never seen, with a unique backstory to match, which didn't include Lois Lane featuring an adorable pixie cut, voiced by Paget Brewster. Wonder Woman isn't from Paradise Island, but New Genesis as a member of Kirby's New Gods, which has never been done well by anyone but Timm. Bruce captures Kirby's block/angular drawing style perfectly, even in the costumes. It's as though Jack himself is drawing the scenes on Apok0lips. The last member of the Trinity, Batman, voiced by Dexter's Michael C. Hall, is an actual vampire, transformed by Will Magnus, voiced by C. Thomas Howell. Without spoiling the plot, the story brilliantly unravels like a mystery with Sentinel-like creatures, seemingly copied from X-Men, framing the Justice League for brutal crimes they didn't commit. The violence is pretty harsh, but it works, with battles culminating in a surprising revelation. The casting, for the most part, was superb, though I didn't quite enjoy Michael C. Hall's Batman. There seemed to be too much Dexter melancholy in him. Overall, though, the emotions work, the story flows well and, along with Bruce's flawless animation, was finally a DC/WB animated movie worth watching in years.
