  • Good start for the weirder part of DC.The cast is good apart from Deadman.Dark, violent, and fun.Especially love the John Constantine-Batman dynamic.

  • Should have been called Batman follows Constantine

  • By far the best of DC's connected animated universe. You get a bunch of unique characters, good and sometimes funny dialogue, a diverse use of magic, and some good fight scenes. It's rather unique compared to some of the other DC movies, being more of a dark fantasy. There are a few qualms: They still use the blocky character design they used in the other films and I'm not a fan of it. (Also, I can't stand Wonder Woman's outfit. It leaves so much to be desired.) And this movie gets too dark at some points. Civilian deaths in this are a lot more frequent or necessary than they had to be.Overall, a good time-waster.

  • An entertaining and visually stunning addition to the DC Animated Films Universe. Unfortunately, as with the other recent films, this movie doesn't have the thought-provoking quality the pre-New 52 movies used to have.

  • Intense, emotional, faux-cinematic telling of DC's 'dark' heroes. Constantine overshadows The Dark Knight by a massive margin.

  • Once again another DC animation movie/TV show being far better than the live action "blockbusters". I'm not too familiar with JL: Dark as I'm not a comic book nerd, but a few of the characters I'm familiar with were also in the Batman: Animated Series, throw in Constantine(from the forgettable movie with Keanu Reeves) and Swamp Thing. Short movie, but the quality is so much better along with the character portayals. Deadman was a much better comedic sidekick than live action Flash could ever hope to be. My only gripe would be that Kevin Conroy didn't voice Batman in this. This is worth checking out if you're into DC.

  • A perfectly fun superhero outing that features an outstanding ensemble cast of voice actors and provides plenty of action, humor, and character moments that flesh out a story with some surprising twists and disturbing content, making this film another fun DC animated film.

  • another satisfying animated DC adventureputs a new spin on the superhero teamup from before; instead of the Trinity it's now Batman, Swamp Thing, Zatanna, and John Constantine of all thingsthere's much more dark magic involved here as a sinister force is making people see their greatest fearseverything ties back to the time of Merlin and a sorcerer called Destiny holding that power conquering everythingsomeone else now plans to wield it and become the ultimate godConstantine doesn't have the best relations with the underworld plus he only had a casual relationship with Zatanna back in the pastbut they have to work together to track down the source of the nightmaresof course Batman makes a statement that magic doesn't have to solve every problem, it's usually more seeking answers from the streetsthis new team is very colorful and otherworldly which is a new change of pace that's always welcomethe animation is amazing, too and the voice actors still haven't lost their touchnot the best JL installment but certainly engaging

  • Moderate. It's nice to see some unrecognized characters get some attention for once. But one thing bothered me more than anything. What about Swamp Thing? He died, no one cared. Everyone was looking at the graves at the end, but Swamp Thing wasnt there. Kind of a bastard move, guys. Poor Swamp Thing...

  • Batman was added for name value, but this could have easily been just as good without him. DC animated films always work so much better than Marvel's.

  • The name kind of gives it away as it's very dark and unless you're a hardcore fan of DC this movie may fly over your head as there's allot of unknown characters and the plot is very stuffed at times as in my kids were asking me what's going on? and who's that?, It was good to see Constantine finally make an appearance as he did bring his charm to the film, The animation and action were ok but the film itself just didn't interest me enough to care about what happened to the heroes or anyone, It had its moments but I wouldn't go back and re watch this anytime soon.

  • The latest in the animated continuity continues the entertaining thread with not just the impressive animation nor level of the performances but more shows an improvement in the usually-flawed pacing with raised stakes and tenser action. Next to that is a nice introduction of the titular group upon formation, being carried by the elemental showcase of Matt Ryan's charming performance in his living television portrayal of Constantine. Their inclusion brought in the horror genre without any actual horror but through recognizable unappealing violent taste from the prior films and visuals if they were live action; which means the approach was mostly different apart from its shared predecessors as something more freshly. Typically entertaining to put it simplistically, but it also has set the lowest bar to be the least enjoyable yet, despite given the same rating that it reaches. (B+)(Full review TBD)

  • The 'dark' of the title may have some magical connotation, but what sets this team apart is their contrast to the straight-laced do-gooders of the Justice League, they have other priorities and the film's exploration of these and the way the difference is used to subvert expectations is where it triumphs. The actual magic weighs it down more than anything, the problem with magic based on spells is that there are no rules to it's hard to be concerned for our heroes' defeat or impressed by their safety. While it's nice to see a different part of the DC universe given the spotlight, but there's almost too much mythology, backstories are given where they aren't needed and they eat into the short runtime. Still the characters are all interesting, they have great chemistry with one another and they are worth watching as they provide a great deal of laughs and just a little bit of heart.

  • Probably the only time you can say the worst thing about this movie is Batman. But one of the better DC animated movies
