  • I don't understand why this film is so badly received, to be honest, the film is really funny, sometime confusing but it conveys a very positive message. My favourite part is probably those close-up shots of Amy Shumer's thighs and belly when she was dancing crazy at the bikini contest, and inserting her finger into a guy's mouth like she knows he wants it. It cracked me up hard! Looks like Confidence is contagious! There are some weird parts where the confident Amy treats that old lady customer differently and how she doesn't see her friends good enough anymore. I really don't understand. Then after she got hit the second time. I don't understand the intentions behind most her behaviours anymore(like why she tried to break up with her boyfriend and why is she hiding?) . Why would she behave so timid in front of a good-looking guy if she believes she is a sexy goddess? Confusion confusion confusion! The final part was definitely a very good message for all the young girls who is struggling with body image. Being someone who had low self-esteem and chubby, I found seeing this film very inspiring. the character is very relatable, especially the different female body type on screen. In regard to the film itself, I wish the character turned into a confident, nice, sensitive woman rather than a annoying woman with an inflated self-esteem, who treats people badly. Because growing from having low-esteem to normal self-esteem would help the character see things from two perspectives, and treat people nicer because they know what being bullied feels like. They knew why people have low-esteem therefore they feel the need to help, rather than discriminate people who are like the old you, like in the movie. Rory Scovel and Any schumer look pretty cute together on screen. However, to see a woman like Amy's body being with a hotter guy, like Tom Hopper, and seeing that pair totally works( because it does a lot in real life) and she deserving it would be more inspiring for young girls.

  • I Feel Pretty stars Amy Schumer as Renee, a low confident woman who falls and hits her head causing her to think that she looks like a supermodel giving herself a self-confidence boost. The humour throughout the movie is done great and the cast does a good job showing the emotions evolving around the main characters journey.

  • Additionally, I'd like to mention that most of these negative reviews (at least that I've seen) are from male critics on this site who've never had to deal with the same problems women today face. That's not to say that men don't have their own issues in today's society, but when sh**tting on a movie surrounding feminist ideals because of its feminist ideals that don't suit what you want feminism to be, it's important for the rest of us to take these comments with a grain of salt considering they're coming from men. Of course men can be and often are feminists, it's important to be educated ones and understand that feminism is not one sided or a one-size-fits-all. Feminism is just fighting for equality and empowering women (often times empowering men too) and if this movie made even one woman feel better about herself, or become determined to do so, it's done it's job. A movie not suiting what you need from feminism does not make it a bad movie. Lol okay thanks sorry for the rant.

  • Amy Schumer expands her reputation of a new leading comedy star, even in a movie that suffers from an inconsistent script and a try-hard-but-ultimately-completely-misses plot.

  • I laughed several times. Not oveler complicated but it was funny.

  • Directors/screenwriters Kohn and Silverstein, who previously gave us "Never Been Kissed" and "He's Just Not That Into You," do a fine job keeping the story moving in their feature directorial debut.

  • A slickly satisfying vehicle for Schumer's comic everywoman persona, and she rises to the occasion.

  • The film might have had more impact if the star was less photogenic. But it's hard to imagine anyone else milking this set-up to such hilarious effect.

  • I don't quite know how Schumer managed to connect with me on this level in this film, but I'd like to guess that somewhere in between her self-deprecation, there was a relatable authenticity.

  • But if the script is patchy and the logic that powers the story seriously flawed, it's still consistently amusing in an undemanding-on-the-brain way.

  • A minor comedic fable about the power of body image, I Feel Pretty by first time directors and long-time rom-com writers Marc Silverstein and Abby Kohn has a couple of worthy assets.

  • At its best, I Feel Pretty plays like a feminist version of The Nutty Professor.

  • Amy Schumer makes the most of a half baked idea, but the material isn't enough to make this film more than passable.

  • It might not be PC to admit but the movie's premise is the society's gold standard - beauty ranks high.
