And after five years, the show has figured out just how to make sure all of those elements work together - just like the oddball cops of the 99th precinct, who started off as co-workers and now feel like a family.

But Brooklyn Nine-Nine knows that it has to milk at least some situational material out of sending two of its own to prison, which is what we get here.

It's amazing how the temporary absence of Gina has allowed the show to consistently streamline its storytelling so far this year.

At it's core, the show has always been at its best when it focuses on the heart at the center of the series, that being the inner workings and relationships of the characters.
